Islam is considered the fastest growing religion in the world.
There are approximately 1.3 billion Muslims constituting a fifth of
humanity. Most are under 25.

Around 85 per cent of Muslims belong to the majority Sunni sect. The minority
Shia Muslims are concentrated in Iran and Iraq.
Less than 20 per cent of Muslims are Arabs. Almost half of the worlds Muslims live
in South and Southeast Asia.

The majority of the worlds estimated 12 million refugees are Muslim. And most of
them take refuge in other Muslim countries.

According to Indian Government the total percentage of Muslim in India is in between 11% to 12%. Since the independence of India in 1947 the percentage of Muslim in government census has remained same, i,e, 12% or less. In an interview with a well circulated newspaper of India "The Hindu", Mr. Justice K. M. Yusuf, a retired Judge from Calcutta High Court and chairman of West Bengal Minority Commission, says that in his view the total percentage of Muslims in India is at least 20 percentage.
The total muslim population worldwide is estimated around 1.5 billion.
